Our Services

The staff of Malinow and Silverman Mortuary is committed to your satisfaction. We pride ourselves on the quality of our service and our dedication to the community.

The goods and services shown below are those we can provide to our customers. You may choose only the items you desire. However, any funeral arrangements you select will include a charge for our basic services and overhead. If legal or other requirements mean you must buy any items you did not specifically ask for, we will explain the reason in writing on the statement we provide describing the funeral goods and services you selected. The General Price List is available upon request

BASIC SERVICES OF THE FUNERAL DIRECTOR AND STAFF AND OVERHEAD:

The fee for our basic services will be added to the total cost of the funeral arrangements you select. (This fee is already included in our charges for direct cremations, immediate burials, and forwarding or receiving of remains.) This fee includes the following:

  • Personnel available 24 hours per day, 365 days a year to respond to the initial call
  • Arrangement Conference
  • Coordinating service plans with cemetery, crematory, and or other parties involved in the final disposition of the deceased
  • Clerical assistance in the completion of various forms and permits associated with a funeral
  • Also covers overhead, including facility maintenance, equipment and inventory costs, insurance, administration expenses, and governmental compliance

PREPARATION OF THE BODY:

Except in certain special cases, embalming is not required by law. Embalming may be necessary, however, if you select certain funeral arrangements, such as a funeral with viewing. If you do not want embalming, you usually have the right to choose an arrangement that does not require you to pay for it, such as direct cremation or immediate burial.

OTHER PREPARATION OF THE BODY:

  • Dressing, casketing and /or preparing the deceased cosmetically
  • Cosmetics will only be applied when embalming is selected
  • Dressing and casketing of deceased
  • Bathing and handling of the deceased
  • Refrigeration (California law requires refrigeration of an unembalmed body after 24 hours)
  • Full or partial autopsy repair

USE OF FACILITIES AND STAFF:

Use of facilities and staff services for visitation (per day): Our services include:

  • Set-up of visitation area
  • Placement of encased remains
  • Display of floral arrangements
  • Supervision of and attendance during the visitation

Use of facilities and staff services for a funeral in our chapel: Our services include:

  • Coordinating the funeral arrangements
  • Supervision of funeral
  • Staff to assist with funeral ceremony

Staff services for funeral service at another facility: Our services include:

  • Coordinating the funeral arrangements
  • Supervision of funeral
  • Staff to assist with the funeral ceremony

Use of facilities and staff services for a memorial service (without remains present) in our chapel: Our services include:

  • Coordinating the memorial service arrangements
  • Supervision of the memorial service
  • Staff to assist with the service

Use of equipment and staff services for a graveside service: Our services include:

  • Accompaniment of remains to cemetery
  • Supervision of a graveside service
  • Staff to assist with the service

Additional charge for use of facilities and staff on Saturday or Sunday
Additional charge for use of facilities and staff for evening service
Other use of facilities and staff of tahara area

TRANSPORTATION:

Services Include:

  • Transfer from the place of death to funeral home (within 30-mile radius)
  • Funeral vehicle (hearse) (within 30-mile radius) or
  • Family vehicle (sedan) (within 30-mile radius)
  • Family vehicle (6 passenger limousine) (within 30- mile radius) or
  • Family vehicle (8 passenger limousine) (within 30-mile radius) or
  • Family vehicle (10 passenger limousine) (within 30-mile radius)
  • Service vehicle (within 30-mile radius)
  • Transfer to or from local airport
  • Transfer to or from crematory
  • Transfer to or from place of autopsy and return to funeral home

FORWARDING OF REMAINS TO ANOTHER FUNERAL HOME:

Includes removal of remains, basic service of staff, necessary authorizations, embalming, use of preparation room and transportation to local airport or other place of shipment within a 30-mile radius

RECEIVING REMAINS FROM ANOTHER FUNERAL HOME:

Includes basic services of staff, transportation from local airport or other shipping destination and transportation of remains to cemetery or crematory.

DIRECT CREMATION:

If you want to arrange a direct cremation, you can use an alternative container. Alternative containers encase the body and can be made of materials like fiberboardor composition materials (with or without an outside covering). The containers we provide are alternative containers and other cremation containers, including containers made of wood, containers made of fiberboard, and containers made of composition
materials. See descriptions below.

  • Our charges for direct cremation, without ceremony include removal of remains, transportation to crematory, refrigeration and basic services of staff.
  • Direct cremation with container provided by purchaser (all containers must meet any applicable state or crematory requirements)
  • Direct cremation with cardboard container, alternative container-heavy cardboard, no interior
  • Direct cremation with casket from our facility

IMMEDIATE BURIAL:

include the removal of remains, transportation to the cemetery, refrigeration of remains and basic services of staff.

  • Immediate burial with container provided by the purchaser (all such containers must meet any applicable state or cemetery requirements)
  • Immediate burial with minimum casket from our facility
  • Immediate burial with other casket selected from our facility, in addition to the cost of the casket
